2025 SUMMER TRADE WATCH LIST

As of July 22, 2025 | 6:00pm ET

The silly season is upon us, and with that comes our Summer Trade Watch List, as teams look to improve their clubs going into the 2025-26 campaign.

As we do every season, TFP has outlined some of the top names reportedly available this summer according to various media reports and our own league-wide sources. Omitted from the list are Unrestricted Free Agents.

This page will be updated frequently and TFP’s panel of experts will outline each player’s value. Some players may climb or fall off the list, while others may be added.

NOTE: Teams linked to players, based off various media reports and internal sources, will be updated regularly.

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: $6.25M

1. Bowen Byram, LD - Buffalo Sabres

Even with a new 2-year contract under his belt, Bowen Byram remains a prime candidate for the Sabres to move at some point this off-season. It’s unclear what they are looking for, at this stage, but Buffalo’s desire is to add a top-six forward.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Philadelphia, NY Rangers, Columbus, Calgary, Boston, Anaheim, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Vegas

AGE: 35
CAP HIT: $10M

2. Erik Karlsson, RD - Pittsburgh Penguins

With Pittsburgh moving forward a rebuild, the Penguins continue to shop Karlsson and the veteran blueliner is open to a move to a contender. It’s unclear how much of his $10 million cap hit the Penguins are willing to eat to help facilitate a trade (the Sharks retained $1.5M of his total $11M AAV), but it is part of the equation to moving him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Florida, Dallas, Carolina

AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $4.55M

3. Rasmus Andersson, RD - Calgary Flames

It does not sound like Andersson and the Flames will be coming to terms on a contract extension. He has one year remaining on his current deal, and trade talks have picked up. There is solid interest in Andersson and Flames GM Craig Conroy is trying to maximize a return, be it this off-season or leading up to the trade deadline.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Ottawa, Carolina, Dallas, Columbus, Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles, Vegas

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: RFA

4. Marco Rossi, C - Minnesota Wild

Minnesota is actively looking to move Rossi, who is believed to be looking for a contract in the $45 million to $50 million range. He’s an RFA and Wild GM Bill Guerin has been taking calls on him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Philadelphia, Montreal, Vancouver, Nashville, Calgary, Buffalo

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $5.125M

5. Bryan Rust, RW - Pittsburgh Penguins

Rust has three years left on his contract and his full no-movement clause expired at the end of June 30, leaving him without any no-trade protection. There is already plenty of interest out there and with Pittsburgh in sell mode, he could be had but will command a high package if the Penguins part with him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Buffalo, Toronto, Columbus

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $5M

6. Rickard Rakell, RW - Pittsburgh Penguins

Rakell generated a lot of interest ahead of this past season’s trade deadline and with Pittsburgh open for business, his name is circulating once again. He has three-years left on his contract and has an eight-team no-trade list.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Los Angeles, Seattle, Ottawa, Chicago

AGE: 24
CAP HIT: $2.1M

7. Yegor Chinakhov LW - Columbus Blue Jackets

It has now been well documented that Chinakhov would like to be traded to a new team and the Blue Jackets are trying to find him a new home. But Columbus won’t give him away and GM Don Waddell will try to package him for an upgrade elsewhere — but failing to do so could result in a trade for future assets or the team could hold on to him and wait to make a move after the season begins.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $2.1M

8. Calle Jarnkrok, F - Toronto Maple Leafs

As the Leafs try to shed salary and create roster space for other moves, Jarnkrok joins Kampf and Robertson on the Summer Trade Watch List. He has a $2.1M cap hit and owns a 10-team no-trade list. The market hasn’t been vibrant, to this point, but the Leafs will continue to dangle him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 26
CAP HIT: $3.25M

9. Mario Ferraro, LD - San Jose Sharks

The Sharks are open to moving Ferraro, who is now in the last year of his contract. He hasn’t asked for a trade, but he would be open to a change of scenery, and with San Jose adding three new defencemen, now might be the time. Teams that reached out during the season will poke around this off-season.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Colorado, Tampa Bay, Winnipeg, Calgary

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $5M

10. Jean-Gabriel Pageau, C - New York Islanders

The previous regime on Long Island explored the trade market on Pageau, and new GM Mathieu Darche may do the same as Pageau is going into the last year on his contract. He does, however, own a 16-team no-trade list.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Winnipeg, Carolina, Boston, Minnesota

AGE: 27
CAP HIT: $8.125M

11. Jordan Kyrou, RW - St. Louis Blues

Kyrou’s name first popped up during the season, ahead of the trade deadline, but it would take a significant trade in order for the Blues to pull the trigger. His no-movement clause kicked in July 1, and while a move seems unlikely now, that hasn’t stopped teams in the past.

Teams reportedly Linked:

NY Islanders, Buffalo, Montreal, Columbus

AGE: 25
CAP HIT: $4.285M

12. Mattias Samuelsson, LD/RD - Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres are open to trading Samuelsson, who has five years left on his contract. Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams squashed reports that the team was considering a buyout, but a trade may be possible this off-season and the Sabres trying to retool.

Teams reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $4.4M

13. Connor Murphy, RD - Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks looked to deal Murphy during the season. He’s battled injuries the last couple of seasons and is now in he final year of his contract. Teams looking to shore up their right side will come calling.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 22
CAP HIT: RFA

14. Mason McTavish, C - Anaheim Ducks

With the veteran additions the Ducks have made, some question how McTavish will be deployed this coming season under new head coach Joel Quenneville. There are teams curious about his future in Anaheim and have been poking around.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Buffalo, Montreal, Calgary, Philadelphia

AGE: 31
CAP HIT: $3M

15. Evan Rodrigues, RW/C - Florida Panthers

Rodrigues might be a casualty of Florida’s salary cap situation. He has two years remaining on his contract and is an attractive asset for another Cup contender if the Panthers opt to move him.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota

AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $4.75M

16. Pavel Zacha, C - Boston Bruins

The Bruins explored the trade market on Zacha during the season and there is belief out there that Boston is looking, again, at moving him. His 10-team no-trade list turned into an eight-team list July 1, so he does have some say in where he ends up, if dealt. He has two years remaining on his contract.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Utah

AGE: 30
CAP HIT: $2.4M

17. David Kampf, C - Toronto Maple Leafs

Kampf has two years remaining on his contract and has been made available and the Leafs look to create some extra cap and roster space. He has two years left on his contract and owns a 10-team no-trade list.

Teams reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: RFA

18. Nick Robertson, LW/RW - Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs will once again evaluate the trade market on Robertson, who improved this season but remained in and out of the lineup. He’s currently an RFA.

Teams reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 32
CAP HIT: $4.6M

19. Jamie Oleksiak, LD - Seattle Kraken

Oleksiak is entering the last year of his contract after this season. He owns a 16-team no-trade list as part of his contract and will have a say in where he ends up, if dealt.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 28
CAP HIT: $5M

20. Jared McCann, LW - Seattle Kraken

With two more years left on his contract, McCann is an attractive add for teams looking to add more scoring punch to their lineup. He has a 10-team no-trade list and has some say in where he winds up, if the Kraken decide to trade him.

Teams reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Ottawa, NY Rangers

AGE: 33
CAP HIT: $2M

21. Noel Acciari, RW/C - Pittsburgh Penguins

Acciari is in the final year of his contract and owns an 8-team no-trade list. The Penguins are open for business and having added some bottom-six forwards already via free agency, Acciari’s time in Pittsburgh may be coming to an end.

Teams reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 31
CAP HIT: $5.5M

22. Josh Anderson, RW/LW - Montreal Canadiens

The Habs are currently over the salary cap (yes, they have the Carey Price get out of cap jail free card in their pocket, if needed), and remain active in the trade market. The want to add a No.2 centre, that’s no secret. Moving Anderson could be an option to help free up extra cap space. He owns a 5-team no-trade list.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 23
CAP HIT: $1.2M

23. Lukas Reichel, LW - Chicago Blackhawks

Teams have been calling about Reichel and the Blackhawks have been listening. He’s going into the final year of his current contract and will remain controllable after this season. Chicago is looking to package assets for immediate upgrades, so we’ll see if Reichel is part of that.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 24
CAP HIT: RFA

24. Dmitri Voronkov, C/LW - Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets were willing to move Voronkov in a deal for Noah Dobson, but that clearly didn’t happen, as Dobson was dealt to Montreal. Columbus wants to add an impact player and could continue to dangle Voronkov in a deal for a big piece.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

NY Islanders, Buffalo

AGE: 31
CAP HIT: $7.5M

25. Morgan Rielly, LD - Toronto Maple Leafs

Rielly has a full no-movement clause and controls his fate. During his exit interview with the media in May, Rielly said he hadn’t thought about leaving Toronto, but speculation across the league suggests the Leafs may explore a move. For that, we list him at the bottom of our trade watch.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD
