The Minnesota Wild are in the market for some extra fire power, as multiple outlets, including TFP, have reported over the last week.

Wild GM Bill Guerin is in the market for a top-six winger, in a perfect world, but has cast a wide net in his search for extra secondary scoring up front.

During Wednesday’s episode of DFO Rundown Insider Edition, David Pagnotta told host Irfaan Gaffar that Minnesota is engaged in the market and has been making calls to see what the price tags are for some potentially available scorers.

“They’re definitely exploring,” Pagnotta said. “Coming into the week, the narrative from that perspective was they’re looking for a mid-six guy, somebody that could be interchangeable, provide them with secondary scoring depth, and be a guy that can play in the second line, play in the third line and just be versatile.

“Yesterday (Tuesday), I started to hear that maybe they have up those efforts, maybe into a top-six guy and then eventually move somebody on the current roster down. We’ll see kind of where that goes. But my understanding is that Minnesota is going to be looking and trying to see if there’s a scoring winger that they can they can add to the mix.”

The Wild have just over $4.43 million in current salary cap space, according to PuckPedia, which gives Guerin some flexibility to add to his roster this season without moving out a roster player. However, if he tries to make a big splash, it could result in someone in the lineup being shipped out.

Minnesota is tied for third-last in the Western Conference, as of today, with a 5-6-3 (13 points) record.
