The Minnesota Wild are off to a shaky start to the season, posting a 4-6-3 record through their first 13 games.
As the team tries to build off their last victory, management is believed to be exploring the trade market for some added secondary scoring up front.
Not having forwards Mats Zuccarello and Nico Sturm in the lineup due to injury certainly has not helped, but it appears GM Bill Guerin is looking around to see what options may be available to him in a second-line or third-line role.
The Wild have just over $4.37 million in current salary cap space, according to PuckPedia, giving Guerin wiggle room if he elects to add to his roster.
Despite an effective first line, thus far, Minnesota ranks 23rd in the NHL in goals-for per game, averaging 2.77 goals per game, a stat Guerin and his staff would like to see improved at some point, and if it means that upgrade comes from outside the organization, the team is evaluating options to do so.
