The Edmonton Oilers have locked up defenceman Jake Walman to a seven-year, $49 million contract extension.
This signing comes after the Oilers inked captain Connor McDavid to a two-year, $25 million extension.
Walman, 29, is in the final year of a three-year, $10.2 million contract he signed with the Detroit Red Wings in Feb. 2023.
In 65 games with the San Jose Sharks and Oilers last season, Walman registered seven goals and 33 assists for 40 points. Edmonton acquired Walman from the Sharks on March 6.
In 267 career NHL regular-season games with the St. Louis Blues, Detroit Red Wings, Sharks and Oilers, to date, Walman has accumulated 32 goals and 9 assists for 91 points, and 149 penalty minutes.
He was originally drafted by the Blues in the third-round, 82nd overall, of the 2014 NHL Draft.
