The Edmonton Oilers and captain Connor McDavid have agreed to terms on two-year contract extension, sources have confirmed to TFP.

McDavid, 28, will earn an average annual value of $12.5 million on his new deal.

As TSN’s Ryan Rishaug reported earlier in the day, “things are moving this morning” towards an extension between the Oilers and the 28-year-old superstar.

“Connor’s commitment to our team and our city is surpassed only by his singular focus on bringing a Stanley Cup back to fans of the Edmonton Oilers,” said Oilers Executive V.P. of Hockey Operations and GM Stan Bowman.

McDavid, who led the Oilers to back-to-back Stanley Cup Final appearances, registered 26 goals and 74 assists for 100 points in 67 games with the Oilers last season.

Over 712 regular-season games (11th among Oilers all-time), the Ontario native has recorded 361 goals (6th) and 721 assists (2nd) for 1,082 career points (2nd). He’s also tallied 87 powerplay goals (7th), 364 powerplay points (2nd), 72 game-winning goals (T-1st), 59 multi-goal games (6th) and 329 multi-point games (2nd).
