Veteran forward David Kampf is hoping to take his game to another club, and the Toronto Maple Leafs continue to explore the trade market in an attempt to find him a new home.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman first reported last Saturday on Hockey Night in Canada that Kampf is not happy in the AHL and the Leafs are trying to find him a new home. He also noted that the possibility exists that Kampf and the Leafs mutually agreed to terminate his contract.

Kampf, 30, is in the third season of a four-year, $9.6 million contract he signed with Toronto in June 2023.

TFP’s David Pagnotta reported Friday evening that “both sides tell me it’s all amicable” and “there is an expectation this (situation) is revolved by the end of the weekend” one way or another.

Earlier in the day, during his weekend appearance on Daily Faceoff Live, Pagnotta also noted the price tag, in the past, has been higher than teams have been willing to pay and hinted the matter could be over with in the coming days.

Kampf was on the trade block over the summer, and the Leafs explored trading him last season, as well, but they have been unable to find someone willing to meet their asking price.

He picked up five goals and eight points for 13 points in 59 games with the Leafs last season. He collected one assist in four games with the Marlies this season.
