CANUCKS STILL IN THE MARKET FOR CENTRE

Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin is still scouring the trade market for a second-line centre and that seems to remain a priority for management as the club continues to flirt with .500.

The Canucks hold an 8-8-1 record through 17 games, thus far, one point back of the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference. While they remain in the thick of things in the early going of the 2025-26 campaign, they have not yet been able to distance themselves from the pack.

Injuries have not helped their cause, mind you, as the likes of Nils Hoglander, Filip Chytil, Teddy Blueger and Jonathan Lekkerimaki have found themselves on IR or LTIR already this season.

With limited cap space to play with, though, Allvin may have to move at least one roster player out if he plans on acquiring an impact player this season.

The Canucks acquired Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks last month, but he has only generated one assist in nine games with the team and is better suited on the wing.

Allvin and Canucks President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford are believed to be exploring their options for help up the middle and as history has shown, they prefer to make their moves earlier in the season than closer to the trade deadline, which is on March 6, 2026 this season.
