Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin remains engaged in ongoing trade discussions with multiple teams about young centre Marco Rossi.

Rossi, 23, is in the final year of his three-year, entry-level contract and is set to become a restricted free agent July 1.

The Wild, as TFP’s David Pagnotta first reported last month, have balked at Rossi’s contract demands, which are believed to be in the seven-year, $49 million neighbourhood, but do not want to trade him away for future assets.

Guerin is believed to be asking for a top-six forward in a deal involving Rossi, and while a centre is preferred, it is not necessarily a prerequisite.

The Vancouver Canucks, Buffalo Sabres and Nashville Predators are just three of the teams that have expressed interest in Rossi, who currently ranks No.5 on TFP’s Summer Trade Watch List.

After trading centre Frederick Gaudreau to the Seattle Kraken earlier Thursday, the Wild now have $17.7 million in salary cap space going into next season. The team is willing to spend and if moving Rossi results in a high-priced player coming back, Guerin is prepared to do that.

In 82 games with the Wild this season, Rossi registered 24 goals and 36 assists for 60 points.
