Calgary Flames GM Craig Conroy is having numerous trade conversations with several teams involving defenceman Rasmus Andersson.
Andersson, 28, is entering the final year of his contract and currently ranks No.8 on the TFP Summer Trade Watch List.
The Flames have tried to get Andersson signed to a long-term extension, but the two sides have not been able to find a common ground, which has resulted in Conroy escalating trade discussions.
Andersson owns a six-team no-trade list as part of his contract and will have some say in where he ends up, once dealt.
On Friday, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Andersson “is ready for something new” and would welcome a change of scenery.
Conroy, however, is not in a rush to pull the trigger on a move — despite trade talks picking up — and could wait until mid-season to trade Andersson if teams don’t meet his demands.
The Ottawa Senators, Carolina Hurricanes and Columbus Blue Jackets are among the teams reportedly interested in Andersson, who comes with a $4.55 million salary cap hit.
