The Minnesota Wild have signed superstar forward Kirill Kaprizov to an eight-year, $136 million contract extension, setting a new NHL record.

Kaprizov will earn an average annual value of $17 million, the highest in the NHL, over the course of his new contract, which kicks in next season.

As part of his contract, Kaprizov will earn a base salary of $1 million in each of the eight years and will own a full no-movement clause over the deal.

He will receive an $18.1 million bonus payment on July 1 in each of the first four years of the deal, then $16 million in Year 5, $14.2 million in Year 6, and $12.7 million in each of the final two years.

The native of Novokuznetsk, Russia, registered 25 goals and 31 assists for 56 points in 56 games with the Wild last season.

Kaprizov, 28, has accumulated 185 goals and 201 assists for 386 points in 319 games played across five NHL seasons (2020-25), all with Minnesota.

He is the Wild’s all-time franchise leader in points per game average (1.21), goals per game average (0.58) and overtime goals (10) and ranks second in PPGs and multi-goal games (35), fourth in goals and GWG, and fifth in points. His 366 points through the first 300 games of his NHL career is behind only Sidney Crosby (507), Connor McDavid (394), Alex Ovechkin (384) and Evgeni Malkin (371) for most among active NHL players.

Kaprizov established a franchise single-season record for fewest games required to record 50 points, reaching the mark in his 34th game of the season on Dec. 23 at Chicago.

Kaprizov was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (No. 135 overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
