Mason McTavish, forward
The Anaheim Ducks and restricted free agent Mason McTavish are not yet close to an agreement on a new contract and the young forward is not attending the start of training camp, which begins today.
McTavish, 22, saw his three-year, entry-level contract expire June 30 and the two sides have not been able to bridge the gap.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, McTavish is currently skating with the OHL’s Ottawa 67s and there remains “no common ground.”
Friedman also reported the Ducks prefer to sign McTavish to a long-term contract as opposed to a short-term, bridge deal.
On July 1, TFP’s David Pagnotta reported McTavish and his camp were concerned with the direction of the Ducks and what his usage may be moving forward, prompting some teams to inquire about his availability.

The contract stalemate continues in Anaheim. It’s believed the Ducks prefer not to do a bridge, but no common ground yet
McTavish is not the only restricted free agent entering camp without a contract, as Pagnotta reported Thursday forward Luke Evangelista of the Nashville Predators is also not reporting to camp without a contract of his own.
New Jersey Devils RFA defenceman Luke Hughes is also waiting on a new deal, as the Devils and his agent try to hammer out a long-term contract.
In 76 games with the Ducks last season, McTavish registered 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points.
