The Toronto Maple Leafs made several moves this off-season, adding the likes of forwards Matias Maccelli, Nicolas Roy, Dakota Joshua and Michael Pezzetta, while saying goodbye to right wing Mitch Marner, and with a surplus of players on the roster, GM Brad Treliving may not be done tinkering.

The Leafs have more than 15 forwards signed to one-way NHL contracts, and the team has been rumoured to be interested in adding a top-six right wing. With that many players up front, management is exploring its options.

“We’re always looking. I don’t think you ever stop,” Treliving told Sportsnet’s Eric Engels ahead of the NHL’s annual GMs meetings in Detroit this week. “Whether it happens or not, we’ll see. We’ve got a lot of bodies right now, so we’ll see. More than likely, unless something changes, we’ll go with what we’ve got and see where it all sorts itself out.”

Earlier in the day, TFP’s David Pagnotta reported that Toronto is still looking to move out the likes of forwards David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok, both of whom own a 10-team no-trade list as part of their contracts this season.

Kampf has two years left on his deal, while Jarnkrok is in the final year of his contract.

“We’ve had some turnover. You credit the coaches because we’ve changed our identity a little bit. I thought they did a really good job of building that throughout the year,” Treliving said. “There’s lots of players that come back, and there’s lots of things that you carryover, but training camp is the time that you start building your team, so I think every team’s a bit of a work in progress when you come to camp.”

Meanwhile, Pagnotta also reported this afternoon that the Leafs and goaltender Anthony Stolarz has begun contract discussions on a possible extension.

Stolarz, 31, is in the final year of his two-year, $5 million contract.
