The Nashville Predators and restricted free agent forward Luke Evangelista remain far apart on a contract and the 23-year-old will not be attending training camp without a deal in place, according to TFP’s David Pagnotta.
Evangelista, 23, registered 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points in 68 games with the Predators last season.
There has been noted frustration from the player’s side, as the Predators are believed to have pitched a three-year, $9 million offer that was turned down.
Evangelista is believed to be seeking a two-year agreement at a reasonable average annual value, according to a source close to the team, but the stalemate remains.
Per sources, Luke Evangelista will not be attending the start of Predators training camp. No deal in place, obviously, and the two sides remain far apart on a deal as of this morning. Heard the ask is reasonable, but Predators may be looking at more term.

Evangelista is not the only restricted free agent without a contract, as defenceman Luke Hughes of the New Jersey Devils and centre Mason McTavish are also in need of new contracts.
As reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, McTavish is not attending Anaheim Ducks camp, either, and is currently skating with the OHL’s Ottawa 67s.
