EVANGELISTA, PREDATORS CONTINUE CONTRACT TALKS

Contract negotiations between the Nashville Predators and restricted free agent forward Luke Evangelista have not gone swimmingly, despite constant communication between the two parties over the last couple of weeks.

Evangelista, 23, remains unsigned and according to TFP’s David Pagnotta, the two sides remain far apart on a new contract going into Sunday.

Pagnotta reported on Saturday “there is frustration from the player’s end” and the biggest issue revolves around his potential average annual salary.

According to league sources, there remains a sizeable financial gap between the two sides, as of late Saturday, on what is expected to be a short-term contract.

If a deal is not ironed out by the start of training camp on Wednesday, Evangelista is not expected to attend, despite already being in Nashville in preparation for the new season.

In 68 games with the Predators last season, Evangelista registered 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points.
