EICHEL EXTENSION “A PRIORITY” FOR GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Jack Eichel is in the final year of his eight-year contract and both he and he Vegas Golden Knights are hoping to come to terms on a long-term extension to keep him in town for the foreseeable future.
The 28-year-old registered 94 points last season with Vegas, the first time he’s cracked the 90-point mark, and is looking to pick up where he left off once the puck drops on the 2025-26 campaign.
While the Golden Knights and Eichel’s camp have engaged in contract discussions to this point, and negotiations are expected to ramp up in the not-too-distant future.
In an interview with The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun, Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon acknowledged the importance of getting Eichel’s locked up to a new deal.
“That’s a priority,” McCrimmon said. “It remains a priority. He’s been a great player for our organization. I think our organization has been great for him. So, lots of interest, obviously, I think from both sides to make something work.”
Eichel’s next deal is expected to hit or exceed $13 million per season with the Knights, with various reports suggesting he could earn a $14 million AAV.
Talks between McCrimmon and Eichel’s representatives, led by agent Pat Brisson, are expected to pick up this month.
In 616 career NHL regular-season games with the Buffalo Sabres and Golden Knights, to date, Eichel has accumulated 239 goals and 369 assists for 608 points.
