The rumour mill surrounding Sidney Crosby’s future in Pittsburgh ramped up this off-season, especially after reports surfaced during the NHL Draft that a move may be on the horizon.
Crosby, who has won three Stanley Cup championships with the Penguins, has spent his entire career with the organization and has maintained his desire to play out his full career with the club.
Still, speculation has run rampant that a trade may be in the future since the Penguins are entering a rebuild.
Speaking with the media on Monday while handing out ticket packages to season ticket holders ahead of training camp, an annual Penguins tradition, Crosby once again reiterated his desire to remain a Penguin.

“This is where I want to be,” Crosby said, as quoted by NHL.com. “I love it here... I talk about the first day, and you think about first impressions. I didn’t know a lot about Pittsburgh prior to being drafted, and I showed up at the airport and could barely move. The support that I felt from day one, the relationships that I formed here, the memories, the teammates, the fans. I mean, you go down the list.”
“I’m so grateful and thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to play here as long as I have. And I think anyone who knows me knows what the city means to me and how special it is.”
Rumours have swirled over potential moves to the Colorado Avalanche or Montreal Canadiens, but as TFP’s David Pagnotta reported on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio last week, a trade this season is especially unlikely given it is Evgeni Malkin’s final tour in Pittsburgh.
Crosby, 38, has one more year remaining on his contract after this season.
