The Dallas Stars and young defenceman Thomas Harley are working towards an eight-year contract extension and are putting the finishing touches on the deal as of Tuesday afternoon.
According to TFP’s David Pagnotta, Harley will see his next deal come in close to $10.6 million per year.
Harley, 24, is in the final year of a two-year, $8 million contract and would have been eligible to become restricted free agent next summer without an extension.
The Stars and D Thomas Harley are finalizing an eight-year contract extension. I’m told the deal, that is still being worked on at this hour, will have an AAV closer to $10.6M.@FriedgeHNIC was first to report a deal was close.

The Stars and Harley’s camp, led by agent Andy Scott, picked up contract negotiations over the past week as the two sides zeroed in on a new max-term contract.
In nine games with the Stars so far this season, Harley has registered one goal and seven assists for eight points. He collected 16 goals and 34 assists for 50 points in 78 games with the club last season.
Meanwhile, as TFP reported last Friday, contract talks between the Stars and forward Jason Robertson remain status quo.
