KADRI TRADE CHATTER CONTINUES TO MOUNT

It does not appear that a trade involving Nazem Kadri is imminent, but that has no stopped teams from inquiring about his potential availability.

As TFP reported earlier in the week, trade speculation surrounding Kadri has picked up, primarily because of the poor start the Calgary Flames have experienced to start the 2025-26 NHL season.

Currently sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference with a 1-7-2 record, the Flames are starting to generate more noise around and players like Rasmus Andersson, Blake Coleman and Kadri, who owns a 13-team no-trade list as part of his contract.

During the “Saturday Headlines” segment on Hockey Night in Canada this evening, Elliotte Friedman reported on the reports and noted that a move, if made, will not occur until Kadri reaches a career milestone.

“Number 1, there is zero chance, zero, he is going anywhere before he plays the game No. 1,000,” Friedman reported. “He’s at 994 right now; it’s obviously a huge deal to him his family and the Flames, and nothing will happen before the that 1,000th game is played soon.”

Kadri, 35, has three seasons remaining on his contract after this season and comes with a $7 million cap hit – he was already paid out a $2.5 million signing bonus and is owed $4.5 million in actual salary this season.

“I do think one thing that’s happening is all these teams (that have interest in Kadi) are trying to find out is am I on that (no-trade) list because if I am and I want them what are we gonna have to do to sell him on the potential of coming to us if Calgary decides to go down that road,” Friedman added.
