Claude Giroux still has gas in the tank and is hoping to keep his playing career going after his club was eliminated from the playoffs.

The Ottawa Senators fell to the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games of the first-round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the veteran forward wants to keep playing.

“I want to play and I feel I can be an impact player,” Giroux told reporters on exit day.

Giroux, 37, is in the final year of a three-year, $19.5 million contract and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

He has made it clear he wants to keep playing and his preference appears to do so with the Senators, who took major strides this season.

Senators GM Steve Staios and Giroux’s agent, Pat Brisson, are expected to chat in the coming weeks about his future.

In 81 games with the Senators this season, Giroux registered 15 goals and 35 assists for 50 points.
