The New York Rangers have been exploring the trade market on young defenceman K’Andre Miller, who is eligible to become a restricted free agent July 1.

Miller, 25, is in the final year of a two-year, $7.44 million contract.

With limited salary cap space to play with this off-season – the Rangers currently have between $8.422 million and $11.094 million in cap space for the 2025-26 campaign – signing Miller may prove to be difficult as the club has other RFAs to sign and other holes on the roster to fill.

During Wednesday’s edition of the “32 Thoughts” podcast, Elliotte Friedman reported the Rangers are actively shopping Miller and seem open to moving him for the right deal.

“It’s not a guarantee, but they are testing the market on Miller. They want to know what it is,” Friedman said. “So, we’ll see where it goes, but his name is definitely out there.”

It is unclear as to the type of return the Rangers are looking for in exchange for Miller.

In 74 games with the Rangers this season, Miller registered seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points.
