The Los Angeles Kings are expected to announce the hiring of Ken Holland as their new General Manager this week, according to multiple reports.
On Monday morning, TFP’s David Pagnotta reported Holland was “very much in the running for the GM role in Los Angeles” and subsequent reports indicated he would indeed by hired as the club’s GM.
The New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres also expressed interest in Holland joining their organizations, but ultimately Holland decided to join the Kings after spending this season consulting with the NHL.
Holland, 69, parted ways with the Edmonton Oilers in June 2024 following a trip to the Stanley Cup Final. He first joined the Oilers in May 2019 as their GM and President of Hockey Operations.
He won three Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings as their GM in 1998, 2002 and 2008, and one in 1997 as an Assistant GM.
Last week, the Kings mutually agreed to part ways with GM Rob Blake, who was on an expiring contract, opening the door for Holland to join the organization.
It is unclear if other changes to L.A.’s management team will occur once Holland is officially brought on board.
