As the Buffalo Sabres continue their search for a veteran executive to add to their managerial staff in support of GM Kevyn Adams, the club is also expected to navigate the trade market as Adams looks to improve his club for the 2025-26 campaign.

Through various points of this season, defenceman Bowen Byram’s name has popped up in trade chatter and speculation over his future continues.

In Monday’s edition of “The Latest” on TFP, David Pagnotta reported the Sabres are expected to continue entertaining trade inquiries on the blueliner, who is on an expiring contract.

According to Pagnotta, enhancing Buffalo’s management team “is going to lead to eventual roster changes.”

“We saw a big move that they made ahead of the trade deadline by shipping out Dylan Cozens, bringing in Josh Norris,” Pagnotta said. “Bowen Byram’s name is expected to pop up in trade discussions again at some point later this off-season, likely around the Draft, that would be my guess.

“It could prolong into July, but expect to hear Bowen Byram’s name out there again in the trade market as the Sabres look to improve. The goal next season is to compete for the playoffs, so any moves that they make is going to have that in mind.”

Byram, who turns 24 on June 13, is in the final year of a two-year, $7.7 million contract and is eligible to become a restricted free agent July 1.

With a blueline that already boasts captain Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power and Mattias Samuelsson, moving Byram in a deal for a top-six forward could be a move Adams attempts to complete this off-season.

The Sabres have over $21.4 million in salary cap space going into next season and are expected to be active this summer.
