The Dallas Stars have remained in ongoing contract negotiations with forward Mikael Granlund’s camp in hopes of getting a new deal ironed out.

While a contract was not finalized prior to July 1, the two sides are expected to continue discussions later today and Granlund could see his next salary hover around $6 million per season on a four-year or five-year agreement.

The Stars are also trying to free up additional salary cap space and continue to shop defenceman Matt Dumba, who is in the final year of his contract and comes with a $3.5 million cap hit.

Defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin and star left wing Jason Robertson’s names have also been tossed around trade speculation over the last two weeks.

Granlund currently ranks No.5 on TFP’s Top UFAs List.

If the Stars are unable to get Granlund signed, several teams are expected to pursue him, including the Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes and his former club the San Jose Sharks.
