SHARKS SIGN ORLOV TO 2-YEAR CONTRACT; CLAIM LEDDY OFF WAIVERS

The San Jose Sharks have signed unrestricted free agent defenceman Dmitry Orlov to a two-year, $13 million contract.

Orlov, who turns 34 on July 23, registered six goals and 22 assists for 28 points with the Carolina Hurricanes this past season.

In 867 career NHL regular-season games with the Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins and Hurricanes, Orlov has accumulated 76 goals and 251 assists for 327 points, and 351 penalty minutes.

Orlov, a native of Novokuznetsk, Russia, won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018.

He was originally drafted by the Capitals in the second-round, 55th overall, of the 2009 NHL Draft.

The Sharks have also claimed veteran defenceman Nick Leddy off waivers from the St. Louis Blues.

Leddy, 34, recorded two goals and three assists in 31 games with the Blues in 2024-25.

In 1,042 career NHL regular-season games with the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings and Blues, Leddy has registered 75 goals and 341 assists for 416 points, and 203 penalty minutes.

He won the Stanley Cup with Chicago in 2013, and was drafted 16th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2009 NHL Draft.
