The Toronto Maple Leafs have expressed interest in unrestricted free agent forward Jack Roslovic, but the team is trying to shed salary before committing.

As reported by TFP’s David Pagnotta on “The Hot Stove” on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio on Saturday, as well as by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on his “32 Thoughts” podcast on Sunday evening, the Maple Leafs are targeting Roslovic and are hoping to move out at least one current player before putting pen to paper.

The Leafs have just under $5 million in salary cap space, but they also have a surplus of forwards and GM Brad Treliving is trying to move at least one of them.

Forwards David Kampf, Calle Jarnkrok, Nick Robertson and Ryan Reaves are all believed to be available.

Kampf has two years left on his contract, Jarnkrok and Reaves are in the final year of their respective deals, and Robertson is currently a restricted free agent.

Roslovic, 28, tied a career-high in goals with 22 last season with the Carolina Hurricanes, adding 17 assists for 39 points in 81 games. The Columbus native made $2.8 million last season and could see his salary climb on his next deal, be it with Toronto or another club.
