KAKKO INKS THREE-YEAR DEAL WITH SEATTLE

The Seattle Kraken and restricted free agent winter Kaapo Kakko have avoided arbitration and have agreed to terms on a three-year, $13.575 million contract.

Kakko, 24, registered 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 49 games with the Kraken this past season after being traded from the New York Rangers, where he collected four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 30 games.

His one-year, $2.4 million deal expired June 30, and he will now earn an average annual value of $4.525 million.

Drafted second-overall by the Rangers in the 2019 NHL Draft, Kakko has played in 379 career NHL regular-season games with the Rangers and Kraken and has accumulated 71 goals and 90 assists for 161 points.
