The Calgary Flames remain engaged in trade discussions with teams regarding defenceman Rasmus Andersson, with the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars among the teams in the mix.

Andersson, 28, is in the final year of a six-year, $27.3 million deal and contract talks with Flames have not been successful, leading Calgary GM Craig Conroy to explore the trade market.

The veteran blueliner also owns a six-team no-trade list, with the Ottawa Senators and Los Angeles Kings believed to be among them.

Both the Golden Knights and Stars are currently above the $95.5 million salary cap and will have to do some juggling in order to accommodate Andersson’s $4.55 million cap hit.

Andersson currently ranks No.3 on TFP’s Summer Trade Watch List.

The Stars are just over $1 million above the salary cap and have been actively trying to trade defenceman Matt Dumba, who has a $3.75 million cap hit, while blueliner Ilya Lyubushkin ($3.25 million cap hit) is also believed to be in play.

Vegas has been shopping defenceman Ben Hutton, who has a $975,000 cap hit.

The Golden Knights, with Alex Pietrangelo’s $8.8 million cap hit on LTIR, have just under $2 million in cap space and would need to move another player beyond Hutton to accommodate Andersson’s salary. The Knights also have restricted free agent forwards Alexander Holtz and Cole Schwindt to sign.

Of note, clubs are allowed to exceed the salary cap 10 percent in the off-season, and must be cap compliant by the start of the regular-season.
