The Carolina Hurricanes have signed free agent forward Nikolaj Ehlers to a six-year, $51 million contract.
Ehlers, 29, registered 24 goals and 39 assists for 63 points in 69 games with the Winnipeg Jets this past season.
He has spent his entire NHL career with the Jets after being selected ninth-overall by Winnipeg in the 2014 NHL Draft.
“Nikolaj was the top free agent available on July 1, and we are proud that he’s chosen to make Carolina his home,” said Hurricanes GM Eric Tulsky. “He’s a highly-skilled winger who can really skate and will fit very well with our forward group.”
Ehlers has totaled 225 goals and 295 assists for 520 points and a plus-106 rating in 674 career NHL regular-season games with the Jets.
