The Vancouver Canucks have been working at extending the contracts of forward Conor Garland and goaltender Thatcher Demko, both of whom could finalize their deals on Tuesday.
Both players are in the final year of their respective contracts and are now eligible to sign extensions.
Garland, 29, is expected to come to terms on a six-year deal worth around $6 million per season. He is entering the final year of a five-year, $24.75 million contract.
Demko’s new deal is unclear, but the 29-year-old netminder could see his salary climb north of $7 million per season.
The Canucks have been exploring additions to the roster after acquiring left wing Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers last week, but GM Patrik Allvin wanted to get some housekeeping in order, as well.
As the club focused on getting a new deal done for Demko, the Canucks have also been shopping goalie Arturs Silovs, who comes with a $850,000 salary cap hit.
Meanwhile, contract negotiations also continue with now unrestricted free agent forward Pius Suter.
