The Seattle Kraken would like to add an offensive weapon to their top-six and GM Jason Botterill remains in the market in search for one.
Sitting 31st in the NHL in goals-for per game, the Kraken are averaging just 2.46 goals per game, ahead of just the Calgary Flames. The team has been trying to add another scorer to the lineup since the off-season, when they pursued Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues, but have yet to find someone to acquire.
TFP’s David Pagnotta reported Seattle’s desire to add up front earlier in the season and reiterated their position on Wednesday’s episode of DFO Rundown Insider Edition with Irfaan Gaffar, adding management has been engaged in scouting meetings his week in Los Angeles.
“They’re going through their meetings right now and trying to figure out the path and the direction of this club moving forward,” Pagnotta said. “We talked about this earlier on in the season. They’re one of the teams that want to add a legitimate top-six threat that can add to their scoring and that’s controllable.
“They are a team that wants to add a piece that’s going to be part of their club for a long run.”

In addition to Kyrou, the Kraken are believed to have checked in on Vancouver Canucks power forward Kiefer Sherwood, among others.
Pagnotta also noted the team has some “internal housekeeping that they've got to do” with respect to some of their pending unrestricted free agents, such as forwards Jordan Eberle, Jaden Scwartz and Mason Marchment, and defenceman Jamie Oleksiak, but those discussions are expected to occur later in the season.
The Kraken have around $3.3 million in current salary cap space, according to PuckPedia, and currently sit ninth in the Western Conference with an 11-7-6 record, one point back of the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
