With the NHL trade deadline approaching (Feb. 25, 2019 at 3pm ET), TFP has outlined 30 of the top names rumoured to be available through various newspapers, radio and television reports, cyberspace and our own league-wide sources. Last season, 15 players listed were traded, with 22 moved the season before.

As part of our Trade Deadline Coverage, this page will be updated regularly and TFP's panel of experts will outline each player's value. Some players may climb or fall off the list, while others may be added. Teams reportedly showing interest will also be added and adjusted as more information becomes available.

  1. Artemi Panarin, RW/C - Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets have a big decision to make, and it seems like they may stick things out, hold on to Panarin and try to re-sign him after the season. He’s been saying the right things, that he likes Columbus, but many believe he’ll find a new home this summer. Tough call for Columbus, who are in a battle in the Metro Division.

AGE: 34 CAP HIT: $5.272M

2. Jeff Carter, C/RW - Los Angeles Kings

Carter doesn’t own any no-trade protection in his contract, but he’ll have some say in where he ends up, if dealt. He also has three-years left on his contract after this season, so there’s no sense of urgency in moving him. But there is interest and the right move could get him on a new contender.

3. Kevin Hayes, C/RW - New York Rangers

The Rangers’ plan is long-term, and right now it appears as if trading Hayes makes the most sense for a club looking to bring in additional assets and draft picks. It will be interesting to see if teams will be granted permission to work out an extension before a deal is finalized, and that would affect the overall price, too.

4. Wayne Simmonds, RW/LW - Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers and Simmonds will continue to discuss the possibility of an extension, but until one is reached, there’s a chance the Flyers receive an offer too good to pass up for this power forward.

5. Mats Zuccarello, RW / New York Rangers

Zuccarello has been waiting for a trade since the off-season, when he thought one was coming. He prefers to stay in New York, but the writing is on the wall and a move is now just a matter of time.

AGE: 34 CAP HIT: $5.291M

6. Jimmy Howard, G / Detroit Red Wings

Howard’s in the final year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent in July. The Red Wings want a first-round draft pick as part of a package for him and you have to wonder if a team is willing to pay that price.

Teams believed to have interest:

AGE: 26 CAP HIT: $1.8M

7. Ryan Dzingel, LW / Ottawa Senators

Dzingel’s offensive outburst this season has caught the attention of many, and his $1.8 million salary cap hit makes him that more more attraction to contending teams in need of secondary scoring.

8. Matt Duchene, C / Ottawa Senators

The Senators are going to try to get Duchene locked-up to a long-term contract extension, and our belief is they’ll get there, but until they do, there’s still a chance he’s dealt by the deadline.

Teams believed to have interest:

AGE: 31 CAP HIT: $4M

9. Alec Martinez, D / Los Angeles Kings

With two more years left on his contract after this season, Martinez adds a little extra long-term thinking to a team’s short-term needs. He’s available for the right price, it’s just a matter of what LA can swindle in return.

Teams believed to have interest:

AGE: 32 CAP HIT: $5M

10. Alexander Edler, D / Vancouver Canucks

Edler’s got the final say, as he has a full no-trade clause. If he cannot come to terms on an extension with the Canucks, they could try to convince him to accept a trade and look to return in the off-season.

Teams believed to have interest:

11. Brayden Schenn, C/LW / St. Louis Blues

The Blues are taking calls on Schenn, among others, and GM Doug Armtrong is itching to make a move to begin retooling for next season. Schenn doesn't have any no-trade protection and could be part of a larger blockbuster is the right pieces come together.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

12. Jake Muzzin, D / Los Angeles Kings

It seems as if the Kings are willing to move one of Muzzin or Martinez, and the best offer will get a deal done. But with both players signed beyond this season, it's not set in stone that a move happens by the deadline.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

13. Duncan Keith, D / Chicago Blackhawks

The expectation is trade talk surrounding Keith will get louder as the days inch closer to the Feb. 25 deadline. He has a full no-movement clause and a big salary the Hawks would need to eat a portion of, but would he waive for another shot at a Stanley Cup outside of Chicago?

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

14. Tyler Toffoli, RW / Los Angeles Kings

The Kings are listening on just about everybody and Toffoli's been tossed around since October when the Kings were eyeing Toronto's William Nylander. If a trade is made, it'll fall along the lines of a hockey-move as the Kings look to shake up their roster for next season.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

15. Derick Brassard, C / Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins appear to be set on moving Brassard by the trade deadline, despite being in a race for the top seed in the Metro Division. Pittsburgh will look to replace his role as the club's No.3 centre, which suggests he's mainly a casualty of his salary cap hit.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

16. Michael Ferland, LW / Carolina Hurricanes

If the Hurricanes can't get Ferland inked to an extension, they're going to try to move him by the deadline. Carolina's already reportedly had calls about him and those discussions could escalate as the weeks progress.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

17. Brandon Saad, LW / Chicago Blackhawks

Chicago's looking to move Saad and his $6M salary cap hit. It's unclear if the Hawks will retain any salary in a deal, but they've made him available and will try to trade him by the deadline.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

TBD

18. Cam Talbot, G / Edmonton Oilers

This is Talbot's last season in Edmonton. The Oilers tried trading him last season and in the summer, but held on to him, hoping he'd rebound for them. He's fallen out of favour there and if a deal can be figured out, he'll make the move.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

19. Jay Bouwmeester, D / St. Louis Blues

The Blues may have to retain some of Bouwmeester's $5.4 million cap hit for the rest of the season, if the team ends up moving him. The 35-year-old has a full no-trade clause and will have a say in where he ends up, if dealt, but contenders will have interest in adding this veteran for a Cup run.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

20. Jakub Silfverberg, RW / Anaheim Ducks

Anaheim's going to try and re-sign Silfverberg to a contract extension, but failing to do so will result in them trading him before the deadline. The next couple of weeks will play a big part of his future in Anaheim.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

TBD

21. Dougie Hamilton, D / Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes are willing to move Hamilton (or Brett Pesce or Justin Faulk) if it means acquiring a scoring forward. Carolina's looking at a hockey-move here, and while this type of move is more likely to occur in the summer, some teams may be willing to dance before the deadline.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

TBD

22. Chris Kreider, LW / New York Rangers

The Rangers have taken calls on Kreider for some time, but that doesn't mean they'll move him. Given the state of the team, his return could be as impactful as his presence in the lineup. A team will have to blow the Rangers out of the water with a great offer to pry him out of The Big Apple.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

23. Adam McQuaid, D / New York Rangers

McQuaid missed a good chunk of the season due to a lower-body injury, but he's back in action and has teams poking around. His physical presence is of interest to a number of contending teams looking to strengthen their blueline and a move may be likely be Feb. 25.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

24. Jonathan Quick, G / Los Angeles Kings

Moving Quick may be more likely to happen in the off-season, but the Kings could get the ball rolling now if there's enough serious interest in one of the game's stop playoff performers of this decade.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

25. Gustav Nyquist, RW / Detroit Red Wings

Nyquist has a full no-trade clause and is in the final year of his contract. Many believe he'll provide the Wings with a list of teams he'd accept a move to, and the return for the 29-year-old should be solid considering the numbers he's been putting up this season for Detroit.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

26. Niklas Kronwall, D / Detroit Red Wings

The 37-year-old can list 10 teams he'd accept a trade to as part of his no-trade clause and with his UFA status pending, the Wings could move the sturdy blueliner for some picks and/or prospects.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

27. Alex Steen, LW / St. Louis Blues

Steen owns a full no-trade clause and has two-years left on his deal after this season, but given how the Blues are looking to shake things up for next season, the interest in Steen will continue to mount.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

TBD

28. Nikolay Goldobin, RW / Vancouver Canucks

Goldobin's time in Vancouver is coming to an end. He's an RFA this summer, and will likely get qualified, but it seems as though his future path isn't alongside that of the Canucks. The team's been trying to move him since November.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

TBD

29. Milan Lucic, LW/RW / Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers will have to eat a decent portion of his salary, but Lucic is still very much in play. If Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli can find the right move, he'd gladly pull the trigger on a deal.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

TBD

30. Thomas Vanek, LW/RW / Detroit Red Wings

It wouldn't be a trade deadline without a possible Vanek trade. The 35-year-old's a UFA-to-be once again this summer and could add extra punch to a team's bottom-six. He has a full no-trade and will have a say, if dealt.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

OFF THE BOARD

29. Michael Del Zotto, D / Vancouver Canucks
TRADED TO ANAHEIM

Del Zotto appears to have fallen out of favour in Vancouver, and a trade seems preferable. He's in the final year of his deal, which comes with a $3 million salary cap hit.
