TOP 30 AVAILABLE PLAYERS LIST

As of Feb. 22, 2018 | 10:30am ET

With the NHL trade deadline approaching (Feb. 26, 2018 at 3pm ET), TFP has outlined 30 of the top names rumoured to be available through various newspapers, radio and television reports, cyberspace and our own league-wide sources. Last season, 22 players listed were traded.

As part of our Trade Deadline Coverage, this page will be updated regularly and TFP's panel of experts will outline each player's value. Some players may climb or fall off the list, while others may be added. Teams reportedly showing interest will also be added and adjusted as more information becomes available.

1. Erik Karlsson, D / Ottawa Senators

Whoa, nelly. It's gotten to this point in Ottawa. Karlsson takes over the No.1 slot, but we caution a trade by the deadline seems unlikely - but not impossible. The Sens are taking calls, but the return will have to be huge.

Teams believed to have interest:

AGE: 33 CAP HIT: $7.8M

2. Rick Nash, LW / New York Rangers

The Rangers have Nash’s 12-team trade list, per their request, and the writing is on the wall for him to be shipped out by the deadline. He's disappointed about it, but he's ready to battle for the Cup, again, this time with a new team.

AGE: 32 CAP HIT: $6M

3. Mike Green, D / Detroit Red Wings

The Wings are starting to taking many calls on Green, who'll be a UFA July 1. He's a rental acquisition for contenders in need of a right-shooting veteran on the blueline. He won't come cheap, but he's the top rental D out there.

Teams believed to have interest:

AGE: 26 CAP HIT: $5.25M

4. Evander Kane, LW / Buffalo Sabres

The price tag on Kane is high, and the Sabres hold all the cards - for now. If a team is willing to cough up a first-round pick, a roster player, a top prospect and an additional asset, they can get their hands on Kane pretty easily.

Teams Believed to have interest:

AGE: 29 CAP HIT: $1.5M

5. Patrick Maroon, LW / Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers will look to obtain an asset or two for Maroon by the deadline. He's a big body who can assist in providing depth-scoring on a contending team.

AGE: 28 CAP HIT: $5.1875M

6. Mike Hoffman, LW/RW / Ottawa Senators

Hoffman continues to generate plenty of interest and the Sens could gain from moving him, as the return would be fruitful and Ottawa is already focusing on refurbishing its roster for next season.

Teams believed to have interest:

AGE: 28 CAP HIT: $4.7M

7. Ryan McDonagh, D / New York Rangers

Like teammate Mats Zuccarello, the Rangers are listening on McDonagh, but that doesn't mean a deal will be finalized by the trade deadline. The Rangers are selling and there's a lot of interest in their captain.

Teams believed to have interest:

AGE: 29 CAP HIT: $4.5M

8. Max Pacioretty, LW / Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens will continue to take calls on their captain, but it still seems like a stretch that any trade involving Pacioretty will be made this season. Montreal wants a top young centre or a top-pair defenceman packaged in a deal.

Teams believed to have interest:

AGE: 33 CAP HIT: $2M

9. Thomas Vanek, LW/RW / Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks may try to hold on to Vanek and sign him to an extension, but failing to do so could very well result in a trade prior to the deadline. His low cap hit also ups his value, which is for Vancouver's benefit.

Teams believed to have interest:

AGE: 30 CAP HIT: $1.65M

AGE: 30

10. Michael Grabner, RW/LW / New York Rangers

Grabner’s offensive game comes in spurts and any team looking to acquire him hopes he gets hot with them and into the playoffs.

Teams believed to have interest:

11. Derick Brassard, C / Ottawa Senators

Brassard has an eight-team no-trade list, so he has some say in where he ends up, if dealt, but teams are calling. The asking price is high, as the Sens like their depth at centre, but if a team is willing to cough up three assets, they'll likely move him.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

12. Oscar Klefbom, D / Edmonton Oilers

As we reported previously, the Oilers are not actively shopping Klefbom, but they’re not having up the phone, either. Edmonton is willing to listen, and they’d want a top-line scorer coming back if they pull the trigger.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

13. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, C / Edmonton Oilers

It wouldn't be a trade deadline without RNH popping up in trade speculation. He's due to return from injury later this month, and word on the street suggests the Oilers are once again entertaining calls, though a deal may be more likely to occur closer to the NHL Draft.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

14. Mats Zuccarello, RW / New York Rangers

Zuccarello’s name is very much out there and the Rangers are willing to listen. They won’t give him away, but if they can collect a few strong assets for him, they’ll pull the trigger.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

15. Zack Smith, C/LW / Ottawa Senators

Smith continues to generate a lot of interest and with the Sens in retool mode, they might be set on dealing him to a contender. He has a 10-team no-trade list, so he'll have some say in where he ends up, if moved.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

16. Jack Johnson, D / Columbus Blue Jackets

This is most certainly an odd case, given how Columbus plans to contend for the Stanley Cup, but Johnson wants to boost his chances of generating a better contract with more playing time elsewhere.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

17. Mark Letestu, C / Edmonton Oilers

Moving Letestu this season appears to be a likely move for the Oilers, as their focus shifts to figuring out next season’s roster.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

18. Tomas Tatar, LW/RW / Detroit Red Wings

Talks seem to be picking up on Tatar, who does not own any no-trade protection this season. He's locked up for another three-seasons, so if he's dealt, it'll be a 'hockey trade'.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

19. Max Domi, LW / Arizona Coyotes

Domi's had a rough season, even having picked up over 20 assists, to date, and word out of Glendale suggests the team is willing to give him a fresh start elsewhere. They won't give him away, though, it would be a fairly significant move if the Coyotes were to pull the trigger.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

20. Alex Galchenyuk, LW/RW / Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens seem only willing to move Galchenyuk in a deal that betters the franchise in the long-term, as well as the now. Though teams have called, a deal may be unlikely by the deadline.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

21. Tyson Barrie, D / Colorado Avalanche

Barrie’s name has been floating around the rumour mill going back to last season. He has two-years left on his contract after this season and won’t come cheap, but the Avs are taking calls and the right offer could force the issue mid-season.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

22. Gustav Nyquist, F / Detroit Red Wings

Nyquist owns a no-trade clause and will have to approve a deal Detroit tries to make, but he's being discussed around the League and could be moved if the right deal presented itself.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

23. Andrew Shaw, RW/C / Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens have reportedly had Shaw on the block since the start of the season. It's unclear what their asking price is or if they prefer to package him in a larger deal, but he's certainly up for grabs, even though he's currently injured.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

24. Tomas Plekanec, C / Montreal Canadiens

The Habs seem somewhat torn on their willingness to part with Plekanec. Unless they can get their hands on a high draft pick, or a pair of picks, they may hold on to him. If moved, though, Montreal will have to eat part of his salary.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

25. Jason Demers, D / Arizona Coyotes

Demers is another defenceman the Coyotes have available, but only if the right offer presented itself. Arizona’s willing to move him, but the deal has to make sense.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

TBD

26. Oliver Ekman-Larsson, D / Arizona Coyotes

The Coyotes continue to say they have no interest in discussing an OEL trade this season, but their draft positioning and his ultimate decision to want to play there long-term or not will dictate his future. Unless a huge offer comes in now, any trade is more likely for the summer.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

27. Luke Glendening, F / Detroit Red Wings

Glendening has three-years left on his contract and can provide solid, quality depth to a contender's bottom-six if a team is willing to pay Detroit's price.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

28. Tanner Pearson, LW / Los Angeles Kings

Pearson isn’t actively available, per say, but the Kings would likely make him available if they were to acquire a top-four defenceman with term left on his deal.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

29. Josh Leivo, LW / Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs really like Leivo, who hasn't seen much ice time due to Toronto's depth up front, but he may be in play as the team looks to strengthen its defensive corps.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

30. Ben Hutton, D / Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks have reportedly made Hutton available as they look to tinker with their roster ahead of the off-season. He has one-year left on his contract after this season.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

OFF THE BOARD

14. Erik Gudbranson, D / Vancouver Canucks
RE-SIGNED WITH VANCOUVER

All signs point to the Canucks trading Gudbranson by the deadline. He's a UFA at season's end and doesn't look to be in Vancouver's future plans, especially after they tried to trade him before the season started.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

17. Dion Phaneuf, D / Ottawa Senators
TRADED TO LOS ANGELES

Phaneuf has played well for the Senators since joining their squad and is simply a potential casualty of a team looking to save some money. He has a 12-team trade list, and talks have already begun.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

27. Nick Holden, D / New York Rangers
TRADED TO BOSTON

Holden is a UFA at the end of the season and with the Rangers presumably looking to sell off their pending free agents, he could be on the move by Feb. 26.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

29. Marian Gaborik, RW / Los Angeles Kings
TRADED TO OTTAWA

It's that time of year again, where the Kings realize Gaborik just doesn't cut it for them anymore. Los Angeles would like to move him, but his contract presents a problem. Until he's dealt or finds the energy unleash his game, he'll continue to bounce back and forth from the ice to the pressbox.

TEAMS BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST:

30. Petr Mrazek, G / Detroit Red Wings
TRADED TO PHILADELPHIA

Mrazek doesn’t appear to have much of a future with the Red Wings anymore, and Detroit could look to move him to a team in need of goaltending depth down the stretch.
