The St. Louis Blues are currently in talks with the representatives for captain Alex Pietrangelo and forward Brayden Schenn in an attempt to get both of them signed to long-term contract extensions.

Both players are in the final year of their respective contracts and can become unrestricted free agents next summer, if unsigned.

Pietrangelo, 29, is in the final-year of a seven-year, $45.5 million contract. His next deal will likely see a higher average annual value, above $6.5 million, and the Blues should have the cap space to accommodate a raise.

Blues GM Doug Armstrong and Pietrangelo’s agents at are expected to chat next week, though it’s unclear if a deal is imminent.

Schenn, 28, is represented by the same agency as Pietrangelo, and is in the last year of a four-year, $20.5 million contract, and he should also see a climb in his annual cap hit on his next deal.
