New York Islanders defenceman Nick Leddy has caught the attention of a few different teams and could be dealt if the right deal presented itself, TFP has learned.

Leddy, 27, is in the fourth year of a seven-year, $38.5 million contract, which does not include any no-trade protection.

While his annual salary cap hit is $5.5 million, he will earn $6 million next season, $6.5 million in 2020-21, and $7 million in the final year of his deal.

According to multiple league sources, Leddy was the topic of discussion for a few teams last season and during the summer, after Lou Lamoriello took over as the club’s new General Manager.

Trade talks aren’t believed to be heavy, right now, but discussions could pick up as the season progresses.

The native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Leddy has three-straight seasons of 40 or more points heading into this season.
