FLAMES CONTINUE TO SCOUR TRADE MARKET

The Calgary Flames remain active on the trade front, exploring their options and entertaining calls for some of their players.

Veteran defencemen Nikita Zadorov, Noah Hanifin and Chris Tanev remain the usual suspects being discussed in trade banter with other clubs, though a trade is not yet believed to be imminent. Teams have inquired about some of Calgary’s other players, including those with term left on their contract, and while the team has performed better in November, they are still open to making changes.

The Flames have gone 4-2-2 so far this month with a battle against the Seattle Kraken coming up Monday night. Flames GM Craig Conroy continues to take and make phone calls, but with teams up against the salary cap, all of his discussions may not move the needle until later in the season.

Zadorov has made it known that he would like to be traded, while Hanifin has been reluctant to sign an extension, despite contract talks being revisited at the start of the regular-season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars, New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks are among a number of teams believed to have expressed interest in Zadorov and Tanev.

With minimal cap flexibility, the Flames will likely need to take back a contract in a deal or retain a portion of the contract of the player they move.
