After firing General Manager Ron Hextall on Monday, Philadelphia Flyers President Paul Holmgren has started his hunt for a replacement.

While a number of potential candidates have been speculated, the likes of former Los Angeles GM Dean Lombardi, who is currently a Sr. Advisor with the Flyers, and former Flyer Chris Pronger are not in contention.

Holmgren confirmed to the media earlier today that Lombardi was not interested in the position.

Former Minnesota Wild GM Chuck Fletcher, New York Islanders GM Garth Snow and Carolina Hurricanes GM Ron Francis may all be on Philadelphia’s list of candidates.

It has also been speculated that Kings Assistant GM Mike Futa, Buffalo Sabres Assistant GM Steve Greeley, and Montreal Canadiens Assistant GM Scott Mellanby may also be on the Flyers’ radar.

Holmgren also admitted head coach Dave Hakstol’s future rests “in the hands of the new GM.”
