The Boston Bruins are in the market for an upgrade at the forward position, and GM Don Sweeney is exploring his options across the League.

Sweeney confirmed his search for an add “up front” to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, though it’s unclear as to what type of player the Bruins are specifically looking for.

The Bruins have roughly $3.53 million in available salary cap space, as of today, and have been riddled with injuries, though mostly on the blueline, as Charlie McAvoy and Zdeno Chara are battling to return to action.

Only star centre Patrice Bergeron is out up front, though his loss isn’t the reason Sweeney wants to strengthen the club’s forward depth.

The Bruins have not scored more than three goals in a game in eight games, having lost done so on Nov. 11 in a 4-1 win over Vegas. Sweeney may be looking to bolster his club’s secondary scoring, as a result.
