GREEN TO BECOME SENATORS NEW COACH

The Ottawa Senators are expected to announce the hiring of Travis Green later today as the club’s new head coach.
According to Postmedia’s Bruce Garrioch, a press conference is schedule for Wednesday, where Green will be introduced as Ottawa’s new bench boss alongside GM Steve Staios and Senators owner Michael Andlauer.
Staios has been on the hunt for a new coach since the off-season began, and first interviewed Green at the end of April.
Green had been with the New Jersey Devils as an assistant coach before being elevated to interim head coach on March 4, replacing Lindy Ruff.
Sources tell Postmedia the deal is done and Travis Green is the #Sens new head coach. Expectation is announcement will be made today. Green will be introduced tomorrow with press conference by POHO/GM Steve Staios. Owner Michael Andlauer will also be in town.

Green spent parts of five seasons as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks from 2017-18 through part of the 2021-22 campaign.
Over 335 career NHL regular-season games as a coach with the Canucks and Devils, Green compiled a record of 141-159-35.
