The Seattle Kraken have found their new head coach and they didn’t even have to look too far.
Former Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma, who is currently bench boss of the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds, Seattle’s AHL affiliate, will be taking over the Kraken, with a formal announcement expected Tuesday.
Last week, TFP’s David Pagnotta was among those to report Bylsma was a top contender for the job. On Monday on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio during The Power Play, Pagnotta reported Bylsma was set to take over.
As I mentioned on @SiriusXMNHL with @stevekouleas @CarterHutton4 just over an hour ago, Dan Bylsma will be the new Head Coach of the Kraken. He's currently coaching Seattle's affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds in the WCF in the AHL. https://t.co/Zgeeakvuq7

Kraken assistant coach Jay Leach, former Minnesota Wild coach Dean Evason and former Los Angeles Kings coach Todd McLellan were also in the running for the post.
Seattle has scheduled a press conference for 10:30am PT on Tuesday where they are expected to officially make the announcement.
