PARAYKO, KRUG REMAIN IN PLAY FOR BLUES

Colton Parayko, defenceman

The St. Louis Blues continue to explore the trade market for options related to defencemen Colton Parayko and Torey Krug, both of whom own full no-trade clauses as part of their contracts, a league source told TFP.

Despite their no-trade protection, the Blues continue to evaluate potential suitors for either player, along with veteran blueliner Marco Scandella, who is in the final year of his deal.

Parayko 30, has six more years left on his contract after this season, while Krug, 32, has three more years. Both players rank among those on the TFP Trade Watch List.

The Blues almost traded Krug to Philadelphia last summer, but the veteran invoked his no-trade clause and stopped a trade with the Flyers from happening.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and Calgary Flames are three teams believed to have had some levels of interest in Parayko.

Blues GM Doug Armstrong is looking to free up some cap space and space on his blueline going into the off-season. Moving Scandella could provide an immediate fix, but the Blues will need to retain a junk of his $3.275 million cap hit in order to complete a trade.

The Blues have all three salary retention slots available this season if they decide to retain on a contract.
