SENATORS FIRE HEAD COACH BOUCHER
The Ottawa Senators have fired head coach Guy Boucher and named Marc Crawford as interim head coach, effective immediately.
Boucher, 47, was in his third season with the Senators in 2018-19 after being hired as the 12th head coach in the team's history on May 8, 2016.
“I want to thank Guy for his three years of service. He is a good person and has been an excellent representative of the Senators. At this point, however, we need a different set of coaching and leadership skills to guide our team through this rebuild,” said Senators GM Pierre Pierre Dorion.
“In the interim, Marc will bring a different perspective along with a wealth of head coaching experience.”
In parts of six seasons as head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Senators, Boucher has recorded a 191-186-46 record.
Crawford, 58, is in his third season as a member of the Senators coaching staff.
With 18 seasons of NHL coaching experience, he has served as an NHL head coach for 1,151 games, and helped guide the Colorado Avalanche to the 1996 Stanley Cup championship.
