Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has one-year remaining on his contract and while he’s eligible to sign an extension as early as July 1, the belief is contract negotiations won’t get underway until “later on,” a league-source told TFP.

Fleury, 33, is set to make $5.75 million in the final-year of his current contract next season. He’s arguably the face of the Golden Knights’ franchise and both sides have voiced their desire to have him in Vegas beyond next season.

Neither side seems concerned that contract talks have not yet been kicked into high-gear, as the Knights’ current focus is adding to its roster for next season.

Contract talks between the Knights and Fleury’s camp will certainly get going this summer, it just remains to be seen exactly when that will be.

Fleury posted a 29-13-4 record in 46 games with the Knights this season, along with a career-best 2.24 goals-against-average and a career-best .927 save percentage.
