The Winnipeg Jets took care of some business on Saturday, acquiring defenceman Dylan Coghlan from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for future considerations and signing two players to new deals.
The Jets have re-signed restricted free agent forward David Gustafsson to a two-year, $1.67 million contract and defenceman Logan Stanley to a two-year, $2.5 million contract.
Gustafsson’s contract has an average annual value of $835,000 and Stanley’s has an AAV of $1,250,000.
Coghlan, 26, played one game for the Hurricanes last season. The Duncan, B.C. native also played 61 games for the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds in 2023-24 and recorded 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points and 40 penalty minutes.
He has played 106 career NHL games for Carolina and the Vegas Golden Knights and posted 22 points (6G, 16A) and 22 PIMs.
Gustafsson, 24, had seven points (3G, 4A) in 39 games for the Jets last season.
The Tingsryd, Sweden native was Winnipeg’s second-round pick (60th overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft. He has played 113 games over five seasons for the Jets and has 14 points (4G, 10A) and six PIMs.
Stanley, 26, had two points (1G, 1A) and 36 PIMs in 25 games for Winnipeg last season.
The native of Waterloo, Ont., has recorded 22 points (4G, 18A) and 127 PIMs in 139 games over four seasons for the Jets. He was drafted 18th overall by the Jets in 2016.
