BRUINS INTERESTED IN HOFFMAN?

The Boston Bruins appear to be looking to add to their roster between now and the trade deadline, and may be targeting a scoring winger to add by Feb. 26.

Bruins GM Don Sweeney has a decent amount of salary cap space to play with, though adding any significant contract would likely result in at least one roster player being sent the other way.

The Bruins are believed to be in the market for a top-six winger and are among the teams eyeing Ottawa Senators sniper Mike Hoffman, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Hoffman, however, comes with a $5.187 million salary cap hit and the asking price is believed to be high – and consummating a trade with a divisional rival makes things that much more difficult.

The Senators are looking to press reset on their season and focus on tinkering with their club for the 2018-19 campaign, and moving Hoffman could provide them with a solid return. It’s unclear what the exact ask for Hoffman is.

Boston could also target pending unrestricted free agents like New York Rangers winger Michael Grabner, Buffalo Sabres left wing Evander Kane, or Vancouver Canucks veteran Thomas Vanek.

Hoffman sits No.5 on TFP’s Top 30 Available Players List.
