The Colorado Avalanche has won 10 straight games and has made its way into the playoff race after an abysmal season last year.

Avalanche GM Joe Sakic made out like a bandit when he traded centre Matt Duchene in a three-way deal with the Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators earlier this season, and he and his management staff are debating what route to take leading up to the Feb. 26 trade deadline.

During Tuesday night’s “Insider Trading” segment on TSN, Pierre LeBrun reported the Avs would like to add a top-six winger to their roster, but the team is not about to rush into any decisions.

According to LeBrun, Sakic may wait untnil a week before the trade deadline to determine what direction to take. If the Avs are still in the playoff picture, they are likely to add and try to help their chances of securing a post-season position.

Colorado has a significant amount of salary cap space to play with and can add just about any contract to its lineup, giving Sakic plenty of flexibility in the coming weeks.
