HURRICANES OUT OF GOALIE MARKET

Frederik Andersen, goaltender

The Carolina Hurricanes would like to add to their roster ahead of the trade deadline, but they are not expected to make a move to add in goal.

As TFP’s David Pagnotta reported on Wednesday, veteran goaltender Frederik Andersen is expected to return to the lineup in the next one to two weeks.

Andersen has been away from the game, treating a blood clot, but has been back on the ice and practising and is expected to make his return later this month.

Hurricanes GM Don Waddell is believed to be looking to add upfront and acquire an offensive scoring winger to add by deadline day. The team has some salary cap space to play with, which gives Waddell some flexibility to add to his roster.

Meanwhile, as Pagnotta reported last Thursday on NHL Network, the team has not re-engaged in contract negotiations with Brett Pesci, Brad Skjei and Teuvo Teravainen. All three players are set to become unrestricted free agents July 1, and negotiations are not supposed to amplify until after the season, at this point.

Teravainen‘s agent is expected to speak with the Hurricanes this week, but negotiations are not currently expected.
