COYOTES OPEN TO MOVING DUMBA, ZUCKER

Matt Dumba, defenceman

The Arizona Coyotes said 10 points back of a wildcard spot in the Western Conference, and it appears as if GM Bill Armstrong is starting to entertain trade inquiries for some of his players.

Defenseman Matt Dumba and forward Jason Zucker are in the final year of their contracts and are set to become unrestricted free agents July 1. While the coyotes are trying to take the next steps in the rebuild, the likelihood of them moving both players ahead of the trade deadline is increasing.

Several teams are looking to upgrade their blueline, and the likes of the Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Vancouver Canucks, and Boston Bruins could all have Dumba on their radar.

Dumba, 29, comes with a $3.9 million salary cap hit and does not own any no-trade protection.

Zucker comes with a higher price tag, and the coyotes might need to retain up to half of his contract in order to help facilitate a trade with a playoff contender that wants to add secondary scoring to the lineup.

The 32-year-old also does not own any no-trade protection and comes with a $5.3 million cap hit.
