The San Jose Sharks have acquired winger Gustav Nyquist from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for a 2019 second-round draft pick and a 2020 conditional third-round draft pick.

Nyquist, 29, collected 16 goals and 33 assists for 49 points in 62 games with the Red Wings this season.

The native of Halmstad, Sweden, agreed to waive his no-trade clause to accommodate the trade.

The Red Wings are also retaining 30% of Nyquist’s remaining contract.

As part the conditions of the deal, if the Sharks make the Stanley Cup Final or Nyquist signs an extension with the Sharks, the third-round pick becomes a 2020 second-round selection.

In 481 career NHL regular-season games, all with the Wings, Nyquist has accumulated 125 goals and 170 assists for 295 points.

He was originally drafted by the Red Wings in the fourth-round, 121st overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
