The Florida Panthers have been active making and taking trade calls and GM Dale Tallon will continue to work the lines as the Feb. 25 trade deadline approaches.

Recently-acquired forwards Derick Brassard and Riley Sheahan are among Florida’s available players, along with veteran Troy Brouwer, defenceman Bogdan Kiselevich and goaltender James Reimer, and Tallon is also taking serious inquiries about winger Mike Hoffman.

Hoffman, 29, has one-year left on his contract after this season and comes with a $5.1875 million salary cap hit. He also owns a 10-team no-trade list.

According to sources close to the organization, Hoffman is indeed available and could be moved by the deadline.

One player the Panthers do not plan on moving, as TFP reported on Monday, is left wing Jonathan Huberdeau, though teams have called about his services.

Hoffman, who made his debut on TFP’s Top 30 Trade Watch List on Wednesday, is having a career-year offensive, having picked up 25 goals and 20 assists for 45 points in 55 games so far this season. As teams look to improve their offence ahead of the deadline, Hoffman could provide secondary scoring for contenders in need of it – his contractual status will also result in a slightly higher price tag.
