Wayne Simmonds, right wing

The Philadelphia Flyers are expected to move veteran winger Wayne Simmonds before Monday’s 3pm ET trade deadline and trade talks picked up Saturday, TFP has learned.

A number of teams are interested in Simmonds, including the Winnipeg Jets, Nashville Predators, Tampa Bay Lightning, Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs, and a move is expected over the next day.

Simmonds is in the final-year of a six-year, $23.85 million contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1. He also owns a 12-team no-trade list and will have a say in where he ends up.

The 30-year-old has moved up to No.3 on TFP’s Top 30 Trade Watch List.

“It quite possibly could [have been my last game with the Flyers],” Simmonds told reporters following Saturday’s overtime win over Pittsburgh, as quoted by NBC Sports Philadelphia. “I don’t know what’s going to happen. Obviously I’d like to stay here, but it’s out of my hands now.”

With Ottawa Senators forwards Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel, and New York Rangers right wing Mats Zuccarello already moved, Simmonds has generated more attention.

In 62 games with the Flyers so far this season, Simmonds has tallied 16 goals and 11 assists for 27 points, along with 90 penalty minutes.
